Travel is one of those things that I wish I’d invested more time in over the last few years, but am now working to rectify the situation. This page documents my favorite travel resources along with links to each of my travel blogs from way back to 1996.

Click on the place markers in the above map and then click through to the individual travel pages or take a look at all blog posts in the travel category on Tech, Mountains and Life. If the blue markers don’t appear on the map above, just hit refresh, and they should appear.

If you want to get away from it all (and the tourists) take a look at Ahti’s tourist hotspot maps.  He analysed the number of photos on Panoramio to determine the relative touristiness of a particular spot; then mapped that back vs geonames to determine the places that are interesting but not packed with tourists.  Great stuff!

Tech notes: The above map is automatically generated by passing the travel category of my blog through the RSS to GeoRSS converter which geolocates the text in the RSS feed to create a GeoRSS feed which is then parsed by Google Maps.
