A quick walk today to clear the cobwebs, and checkout a potential route for snowshoeing later in the winter.
This is a well marked path from the ski station at Clot de la Balme up to Col de la Balme, then across to the summit Tête des Chaudières. I was going to do the full circuit indicated by valverco, but didn't like the look of the steep downhill, so did a direct there & back.
I took a short side-path to take a look at the balcon trail Mur des Sarrasins (and look for a geocache), but didn't like the look of the downhill, so backed up and took the above pano instead.
At the summit there were a pair of Bouquetin savoring the silence, so I took a few shots, and left them alone.
In terms of planning for a snowshoe route, I don't think the summer path I took was that good, because of a number of 45 degree slope transits... but looking at the raquette path from valverco, I think I've sketched out a good option on social hiking.
