Le Collet is a small col to the North East of the summit of Charmont Som that makes for a pleasant but remarkably uninteresting saunter through the woods (due to almost complete tree cover). I was hoping for a better view from the col at the top, or at least on the way up or down, but was presented with neither. I had also intended to wild camp somewhere close to the summit, but didn’t find a good spot up on the mountain. The best view was on the way back of the Chartreuse museum and monastry.
The path is good in most areas, although you do have to be careful not to be tricked by the logging trails, or to re-join the correct path after negotiating fallen trees. A small section of trail coming down on the north side of the col was a little tricky due to the steep slope - but not a problem if taken slowly.
There is a spring Fontaine de Fretteviellie at N45 19.833 E5 47.525.
