I did the TMB on the Exodus trip TWB, covering 200km of walking (according to my GPS - yes… I know it is only supposed to be 160km, but my excuse is that we did a lot of zig-zagging up the hills!). Exodus liked my photos of the trip so much - they’ve included one in their 2010/2011 brochure.
You can see the best of my TMB photos below or in my TMB album hosted at Picasa, or explore the embedded google-earth map below to see the photos where they were taken. You will need to expand the time slider and move it around to see more of the trip than just the first day. It may be easier to download the TMB kmz file (320kb) and open it in Google Earth on your PC.
The trip stats presented here include the walking time, lunch time, and any refuge stops on each hike. I’ve excluded any stretches when we were on a bus or cable-car, and the time we were in the camp or walking to a local restaurant. The graph (thanks to GPS Visualizer) shows the main walking days, however the table below includes the optional days.
This is an experimental flash panorama from Aiguillette de Pousettes. I’ll be working to improve the download time (via multi-resolution files) and will add more when I get the time.
Photos were shot with my Canon 500D, mostly using a Tokina 11-16 f2.8 lens, and sometimes using the Canon 50mm plastic fantastic. I used a Ultrapod and a Leki Photo monopod along with a really-right-stuff L-bracket for the camera and a Kirk 1” quick release clamp. Geotagging was performed with a Garmin Oregon 300 and Geosetter software. For other kit used, see my TMB blog entries.
